Yesterday, the Great State of Oklahoma experienced a barrage of nasty thunderstorms, in particular, Moore Oklahoma.  This town has experienced one of the worst tornado’s in our countries history.  The town was prepared as they could be with forecast warnings going out ahead of time.  The disturbing question is, how could you truly prepare yourself for a tornado?

These storms damage any property they encounter, and will injure or kill if it gets a hold of you.  So what do do?  The best thing you can do in any severe weather warning is to take the advice of the meteorologists and prepare yourself.  In the case of a tornado, it is always best to try to get out of the area of suggested impact to minimize loss of life.  Although you have the risk of property damage, you can always rebuild your property, you cannot gain another life.

In the event that you have been struck by a natural disaster, seek help with families and friends.  Check with your local community for centers that will aid you until you can rebuild your home.  The one thing our country does great is come together during tough times, so always remember, when tragedy strikes, you never are truly alone.

The staff and management of our resort have the State of Oklahoma in our hearts & prayers during these trying times, and hope the people affected, find the courage to move on.

Of all the above mentioned challenges we currently have, the economy is one that most can relate on.  Prices on goods and services have gone up, and the purchasing power of our dollar has gone down.  Inflation is rising faster and faster everyday, and our local governments are doing what they can to remain viable, which in turns mean, more taxes for everyone to pay.

How do we solve this?  Well, there is no simple solution.  As you probably have heard over the news; congress, our leaders, our president, are divided on how they plan of righting the ship.  There are many good ideas on both sides with just as equal bad ideas as well.  Since individually, there is nothing that one person can do to fix the entire economy as a whole, it is important to make sure your individual finances are within your budget.  By being vigilant and taking care of your family by living within your means, you could effectively be shielded by most of this unstable economy.

The other important aspect of this is the stress you encounter from your daily lives.  Although working in today’s world and dealing with the economy may not be easy, it is important that you put yourself first and take care of yourself.  Do this by finding a getaway, a retreat, or just spend time relaxing at home.  Unwinding yourself is one way to maintaining a healthy state of mind.

During the last few years, there has been an explosion in the popularity of various exercising training programs.  One such program, Zumba®, has become extremely popular among people working to get into shape and remain healthy.  The Villa Roma Resort has jumped on this bandwagon and created a Fitness Weekend featuring Zumba®!  April 19-21, 2013, you can stay at the resort for the weekend and participate in various exercise classes throughout your stay.  Your bed will probably never look so good at the end of the workout days!!  The Villa Roma also has the option for you to stay just during the day and participate in the classes.  Please see the flyer attached for more details.

Villa Roma is a family owned resort.  Bought by Marty Passante back in 1969.  Which once was a simple boarding house with very few amenities, Mr. Passante built an elaborate resort destination with a plethora of activities so families, could enjoy themselves.  His vision was to build a place where families can spend time together, year after year, and to create lifelong memories.  This vision, is still true today.  How does this relate to our definition of family?

Villa Roma has third generation staff members working here.  Some, have worked their entire working life at our resort.  Children of employees, eventually follow in their footsteps, and work here currently, work when in school, or come back and work after college.  We have watched many of our employees grow up, right in front of our eyes, and celebrated with them through their milestones in life, or shared their grief when tragedy struck.  How does this relate to our definition of family?

One of Mr. Passante’s visions was to build timeshare units at our resort, so our returning guests, would then be able to buy a vacation home for a week, and return year after year.  What started with just a handful of buildings has spawned to 25 buildings.  We have watched our original owners have their children, and now occupy their parent’s units.  We have watched them, have their own children, and grow up here at Villa Roma, year after year.  We have third generation families here, that have made it a tradition to make Villa Roma their place to vacation or celebrate life events.

So, one last time, how does this relate to our definition of family?

What makes Villa Roma Resort unique, is that we are one giant family.  From our maintenance and laundry workers, to our front of house staff and management, to our vendors that provide us with service, to our recurring and new hotel guests, to our Timeshare owners, and finally, to our year round condo owners, we are all part of this happy family.  Villa Roma has a unique feeling to it the minute you walk through our front doors.  You are family the minute you check in, and always will be.  Villa Roma has a grasp on you that does not let you go, even when you go home. The memories that you have here, will be ones you never ever forget, and we hope you cherish for life.  This is our definition, of family.
